Babe of the week

Grace the Bookworm

Grace was not born with a silver spoon in her mouth, but with plenty of books in her hands. She used to be a nerdy girl who was always seen walking around with books, more books, nothing but books. We are not talking about books that you store under your bed, or on the shoe rack. Grace has an entire shelf of collection and if she were to convert each book into a pair shoes, she would have several shoes outlets in Singapore. “One thing for sure, no matter how busy or tired I am at the end of the day, I must do some reading before bedtime. Haha”

Our lovely bookworm does take care of her grooming as well. When Grace is out on the streets, you will never spot her wearing just a plain top with jeans. Some of her favourite styles include bohemian, corporate, casual and vintage. “I don’t understand how some people can wear the standard type of outfit 24/7. For girls, if you have the figure, take full opportunity of your youth and spend a teeny weeny bit of effort to dress up. One does not have to spend much to doll up”

Grace aspires to be a fashion designer in the near future, though she is taking a degree in business. She does have a personal portfolio of designs since her teen years.

BELUMNI is definitely looking forward to another local household name in the fashion industry. All the best - Grace Poh, the Bookworm. Or the Stylish Bookworm?

What kind of food you like the most?
My taste is quite cosmopolitan. Ranges from Italian, Northern Thai, Japanese and right down to our very own Hawker flavours.

Being a true-blue Singaporean, nothing beats a cheap and warm plate of local-flavoured meal. I’m a believer of bbq stingrays, char kway teow and hainanese chicken rice.

What do you do for leisure?
You mean besides the shopping and gossiping? (lol)
Reading (surprisingly), im a sucker for classics and fantasy novels. (think LOTR and Harry Potter)

Not forgetting writing too. Mostly are in hard copies, though I do have a blog; gforgrace.blogspot.com.

How would you describe your personality?
It’s like the weather. Sunshine one morning and stormy the next.

What’s your motto in life?
None, as aphorisms only express the abstract truth but not feasible to implement in our practical lives.

What embarrasses you?
When I give a really loud fart! Haha.

What are you like as a girlfriend?
Fun to be with, guaranteed laughter and provides the juiciest current news. Also the one who offers an everlasting listening ear.

Well, I strive to be a good girlfriend.

What turns you on?
A couple of good reads with my current favourite hits. OR nibbling my earlobes.

What makes you cry?
Like 89.9% of the female population. Anything! A nice touching twist in a film or remarks which may touch a raw nerve.

There was once when my tears just flowed out whilst my boyfriend was reciting a moving dialogue he copied from a drama serial!

Would you go for plastic surgery? To which part of your body and why?
That depends on whether there is any sponsors. Haha!

If there’s one feature that needs enhancing, it would be my nose. I guess it would be my life-long regret that I wasn’t born with a Grecian nose with an aristocratic point.

From a scale of 1 to 10, how confident are you on your figure?
8 if I’m in good form (meaning I’ve been exercising religiously and keeping a balanced diet) and 5 if I’ve been bingeing.

What is sexy to you?

Someone who isn’t aware that he/she is, in fact, sexy.
Filial piety. I’m very much attracted to guys who reveal their soft side when it comes to their family.

What’s the favourite part of your body?
Thanks to my tongue and its active taste buds, I am entitled to enjoy the exquisite dishes.

What is the sexiest piece of clothing / accessories you own?
A Black lacey-corset. Bought and worn for a very special occasion. (Sheepishly)

Have you ever lost your temper in public?
Yes. I’m quite hot-tempered and hence usually have to retrieve it from the ‘Lost & Found’ section.

What is one item that you will save if your house were on fire? Why?
My family of course!

What’s your perfect date?
Just me and him, hand-in-hand and roaming the night streets.

What is one piece of advice would you give to a guy looking to woo a lady?
Consistency. Roses and sweet-nothings only go this far.

What kind of pick up line fails?
Anything that’s too corny and insincere. Trust me, girls have very much highly-tuned intuitions. Pickup lines only work if the girl is attracted to you.

What was the most disgusting thing you have ever put in your mouth?
Soap! I was curious to taste it as resembles a Walls ice-cream.

What were the most romantic things a guy has done for you?
Loads! My boy (current) baked a chocolate fudge cake for my birthday even though he has no prior cooking experience.

True Love or Great Sex?
True Love of course!
I don’t believe in great sex without love.

Are you a tiger or a pussycat in bed?
Pussycat, I suppose. Though I can get quite wild.

Complete the sentence;
“In 5 years time,
I want to be Singapore’s Next Top Model.”

Any final words for our Belumni members?
